Monemvasia & Kiparissi
Wednesday 27th April...
Linda - I've decided to dedicate a whole blog post to Monemvasia, because this really is an extraordinary place. But to start with, I forgot to mention Dean's water hose escapade yesterday. We were on the quay and hoping to get water. however the water tap was far away. A neighbouring boat asked us if he could borrow our hose (Dean has three!), so Dean got them all attached together and ready to fill both boats. However, the water pressure was not good and the water would not reach our boat, but it did reach the neighbours, so they filled up. Poor Dean after all his helpfulness, had to resort to filling water containers and transporting it to Thesee. I lost count how many times he walked back and forth. He wasn't happy, and you would have thought the neighbours would help, but they didn't. Not even a cheap bottle of wine to say thankyou.
Last night we found out that all the boats had to move off the quay by 8am this morning as the dredger was going to be working. So we got up at 6am, departed the quay by 7am, and went out into the anchorage because we hadn't walked to Monemvasia old town yet, and we'd been told by friends not to miss it.
It was another beautiful calm morning. After we were happy with the anchoring we offloaded the dinghy, went ashore, and walked into the old town. WOW, we were not disappointed. Copy this link for more info on Monemvasia.

After our sightseeing and refreshments, we were back on the boat by 11am, raising the anchor and moving north 20 miles to our next anchorage at Kiparissi. It's a fabulous anchorage, has everything, scenery, blue water, quaint houses, good holding, and sunshine. The mountains are really high and green, it's wonderful.
